In April 2009, Tiffany Wagner’s entire world changed, when her 9-year-old daughter, Victoria, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Upon learning that her daughter had cancer before she was even finished with third grade, millions of questions ran through Tiffany’s head, as she was overloaded by doctors with tons of information and unfamiliar medical terms. Afraid and overwhelmed, Tiffany was handed an unsuspected lifeline, one that would represent the beginning of an ongoing relationship between her family and the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan (CLF) family. Our annual Holiday Toys Open House is one of the most memorable, fun events for many Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan families and volunteers. The holidays can be a tough time for families battling cancer because patients are often unable to participate in traditional holiday activities due to health concerns. Holiday parties and visits with Santa in uncontrolled, public environments can put patients in treatment or recovery at risk due to their weakened immune systems. Continue reading

We believe every child should experience the joy of the holiday season. Unfortunately, patients in treatment for leukemia and blood-related cancers, as well as their families, have little funds or time to spare for holiday celebrations due to the treatment expenses and time spent in hospital clinics.
